On behalf of our client, a leading drug discovery and non-clinical services company, we are looking to recruit a Biomarker Lead or Translational Scientist to join a pharmacology team and take a lead role in the delivery of a growing client project portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality data supporting projects actively discovery new drugs for a range of projects across areas such as inflammation, fibrosis, metabolic and CNS.

Basic Requirements:

  • BSc in pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. A PhD is highly desirable
  • Strong drug discovery background gained through significant experience in a pharmaceutical company or CRO
  • Ability to propose relevant methodologies to answer key questions and develop methods accordingly
  • Supervisory experience is essential
  • Strong scientific leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex scientific ideas and datasets to key stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and prioritise many different projects and tasks in line with the objectives of the in vivo pharmacology team
  • Independently design, implement, and conduct preclinical experiments to investigate mechanism of action of drugs
  • Setting up new assays and troubleshooting assays for clients
  • Line management of a small team of 2-3 members of staff
  • Provide expert advice on data to project teams and take a lead in problem solving using in vitro methods
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance and input to assistant researchers and junior scientists
  • Provide appropriate analysis and communication of project results through reports and presentations to senior management and internal units
  • Continue to develop understanding through literature, novel in vitro systems and technology platforms, and scientific contacts.
