Animal Technician

Location: Leicestershire

On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit an Animal Technician to carry out daily husbandry duties to support scientific research. They are looking for candidates who are passionate about their work and are interested in developing and working towards obtaining a Home Office personal licence.

Please note that due to our client’s rural location and in the absence of suitable public transport links, having your own transport is essential.

Basic Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with and handling animals
  • Animal care qualification at Level 2 or higher
  • Previous experience as an animal technician is desirable
  • The ability to learn and have empathy with the animals and the capability to develop the requisite skills
  • Good communication and organisational skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing food, water and bedding to the animals
  • Changing cages and associated equipment
  • Performing cleaning duties within the animal rooms and facility
  • Coordinating with vendors and supervisors on operational, administrative and technical responsibilities
  • Overseeing procurement of animals and supplies, preventive maintenance of facility equipment
  • Collecting study data both manually and using electronic data capture systems
