Experienced Animal Technician

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £16,110 - £18,739

Agenda is recruiting for an Experienced Animal Technician in the Cambridge area. You will be responsible for the daily care and welfare of laboratory animals, maintaining the high standards of the unit which includes following correct procedures and protocol, and the requirements of the Home Office under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

This is a temp to perm role.

Your main duties will include:

  • General husbandry, including feeding, watering, preparation and changing of cages.
  • Medical examinations
  • Maintaining detailed, accurate records regarding breeding, health, welfare and environmental checks
  • Adhering to Home Office guidelines and the Animal Scientific Procedures Act 1986
  • Weekend work is required.

Skills required:

  • Level 3 Animal Care qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Experience handling rodents, guinea pigs and rabbits
  • Previous experience working with laboratory animals is essential
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook and knowledge of database management.
  • Ability to use own initiative to make sure all duties are fully met

As an Animal Technician, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of service and expected to follow key animal care protocols in order to ensure the welfare of all animals within the research facility.
