Trainee Animal Technician

Location: Cambridgeshire
Salary: £17,489 - £20,832

On behalf of our client, we are looking for Trainee Animal Technicians to provide daily husbandry duties in their animal facility. The company will provide all appropriate training and offers a career pathway, so you can progress and learn new skills in the laboratory animal industry.

Basic Requirements:

  • Animal Care Qualification and a genuine interest in the care of animals
  • Experience caring for and handling animals in a work or voluntary capacity
  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records
  • Effective at communicating and liaising with others
  • Previous experience with rodents, fish or frogs is beneficial
  • Ability to follow set procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing food and water for animals and organising special diets if needed
  • Carrying out regular observations and health checks
  • Monitoring the weight and growth of animals
  • Making sure animals are clean, comfortable and behaving as expected
  • Monitoring heating, lighting and humidity
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the animal facility
  • Keeping accurate records and inputting data onto computer systems
  • Participate in the rota for weekend and bank holiday cover, which will be 1 in 3 weekends.
