Senior Scientist – Receptor Binding

On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit a Senior Scientist to join a Receptor Binding team to support projects in therapeutic areas such as metabolic and CNS. The successful candidate will be responsible for assay development in the receptor binding group both in vitro and ex vivo, and take a lead role in the delivery of an expanding client project portfolio.

Basic Requirements:

  • BSc in pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. A PhD is highly desirable
  • Drug discovery background gained through experience in a pharmaceutical company or CRO is advantageous
  • Experience developing in vitro and ex vivo assays
  • Ability to independently design, implement, and conduct preclinical experiments to investigate mechanism of action of drugs
  • Capable of developing new techniques and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to present complex scientific datasets to key stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement preclinical experiments for integrated drug discovery projects
  • Developing in vitro receptor binding assays and ex vivo occupancy studies to profile binding sites associated with adverse side effects
  • Develop novel assays using custom-synthesised radioligands and commercially available radioligands
  • Provide expert advice on data to project teams and take a lead in problem solving using in vitro methods
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance and input to assistant researcher and junior scientists
  • Provide appropriate analysis and communication of project results through reports and presentations to senior management and internal units
  • Continue to develop understanding through literature, novel in vitro systems and technology platforms, and scientific contacts.
