On behalf of our client, a world-leading R&D company with state-of-the art facilities, we are looking to recruit an exceptional expert in developing and delivering integrated solutions for laboratory processes, through the automation of science and data. This senior position would suit a person with leadership experience or excellent potential managerial qualities with a passion to lead a team, along with essential deep technical knowledge, a relevant scientific background and the confidence to lead fundamental change.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead innovation in all aspects of laboratory automation. Partner with internal and external teams to deliver a step change in laboratory automation capabilities.
  • Set the technical direction for and lead the development of strategic scientific workflow automation ambitions. Champion and get senior management ownership of the end-to-end automation solutions delivering to Bioscience and research strategy. 
  • Lead the Bioscience Automation team to deliver high quality, timely and relevant technical and scientific workflow solutions to meet the business needs.
  • Drive the fundamental transformation of Bioscience ways-of-working via the adoption of new integrated automation and scientific data workflows, managing significant change
  • Develop and own the Bioscience holistic automation project portfolio and partner with the Bioscience and R&D IT leadership teams to define the overall priorities and key deliverables across the automation portfolio.

Requirements:

  • World-class depth of technical knowledge, networks and experience of integrating automation and data workflows in life sciences/ biotechnology/ drug discovery.
  • Managerial experience or excellent and demonstrable potential to lead people and strategy
  • Highly effective communicator with strong ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Ability to set clear direction and energise a project team to deliver timely results, to network, build relationships and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Personal experience of delivering value from scientific workflow innovation and demonstrable experience in roles focused on technology integration in a research environment, preferably biological/biochemical life sciences, but flexible across chemistry
  • End-to-end vision of automation technology, including experimental understanding and data processing
  • Experience of LIMS and automated ETL for data processing.
  • A solution-oriented, problem-solving mindset and desire for continuous improvement of methodologies and processes.
