On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit a Technician Team Manager to manage the day-to-day work of the Technician Team, supporting multiple clients in veterinary medicine, feed additives and safety studies and delivering animal husbandry and study procedures within a livestock facility. The successful candidate will also be the key point of contact between Study Managers, the Science Team and the Technician Team.

Basic Requirements:

  • Hold a Home Office Personal Licence
  • Good knowledge of biosecurity procedures
  • Strong track record of team management and communication skills
  • Husbandry skills with farm animals including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and horses
  • Previous experience operating farm machinery is advantageous
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work weekends and unsociable hours if required
  • Full UK driving licence

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, organise, and mentor the Technician Team to ensure the study requirements are fulfilled efficiently and on time, according to client expectation
  • Supervising staff to maintain technical standards to animal husbandry and study procedures, GLP guidelines and Home Office Licences
  • Be the point of contact for staff and external agencies on animal husbandry and welfare, controlled veterinary drugs, health and safety, and risk assessments
  • Carry out practical work as one of the Technician Team when required
  • Plan work rotas for effective and efficient staffing solutions
  • Maintain a close working relationship with all managers to understand the delivery needs of studies
  • Work with the Compliance Manager to maintain compliance requirements on the unit, including security measures, staff training and competence records, and assisting with equipment
